Sensor

They are used in gas detection units to detect toxic or explosive gases and measure gas concentration, typically using the air as the reference environment.

Probe

Typically a fixed length of tubing, attached to a pumped gas detector, dropped into a manhole, tank and vault that draws a sample from the area about  to be entered. Ideally, the hose should be long enough to reach the bottom (some gases are heavier) and the pump...

PPM

(Parts per Million) A common measurement for certain gases. The measurement is the mass of a chemical contaminate per unit of volume of water. IE: 50 ppm Carbon Monoxide

LEL

(Lower Explosive Limit) The lowest concentration of gas or vapor that will burn in air. LEL varies from gas to gas, but for most, it is less than 5% by volume

Gas Monitor

Gas monitor, these units are also fixed or portable. (see also Gas Detector)
